River Lark
East Anglia's Flagship chalk stream for restoration 2025-2030
A far-reaching plan for the Lark and its river catchment is already under development. The Lark has been selected as a Flagship as a national initiative supported by the regional water companies. This is a once-in-a generation boost for the Lark where we can celebrate 1000 years of bringing life-giving fresh water to all of West Suffolk down the centuries
The fundraising concert at St Mary's church will cross four centuries of music on rivers and water.
The River Lark Catchment Partnership (RLCP), a registered charity, will partner with Anglian Water on implementation of the Flagship.
RLCP's volunteers have worked for the last 5 years on river restoration on the Lark on many different river stretches. RLCP volunteers also carry out a programme of water quality testing aimed to give a better understanding of the state of the river and helping to prioritise where resources can best be applied to improve the river. RLCP works as the chosen Suffolk partner in a national citizen science water quality initiative to greatly expand the role of volunteers in sampling and analysis of our rivers.
